The apostles were again jailed for talking to the people about Jesus. Here they appeared before the Sanhedrin, the temple authorities. It is evident that the Holy Spirit was empowering them as Peter and the other apostles admitted that they "must obey God rather than men." They knew they could be imprisoned or even killed, but the Holy Spirit gave them the strength to speak the truth. We need the Holy Spirit so that we, too, can share the love of Jesus effectively.

Jesus spoke of the "one from above", and in doing so, He was referring to Himself. Jesus was saying that He came from God - from above - and therefore, He was able to speak for God. Jesus had seen what He was declaring. Those who accepted what Jesus was saying and believed in Jesus would have eternal life. Jesus concluded by saying that those who did not believe Him brought judgment on themselves. The people with whom Jesus spoke would have been surprised by His assertion that He came from God, but we accept by faith that Jesus is the Son of God.

Lord, help me to share the good news of Jesus boldly.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
