Stephen had been sharing the message of Jesus, but not everyone was open to hearing it. Some men connected with the synagogue didn't like what Stephen was saying. They brought in false witnesses who accused Stephen of speaking blasphemously against God and Moses. As the members of the Sanhedrin listened intently, they noticed that Stephen's face had been transformed into the face of an angel. Many today bear false witness and mislead others. For matters of our faith, we must listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus and His disciples had gone to Capernaum. Some of the people whom Jesus had previously fed came looking for Him. When Jesus saw them, He accused them of wanting more bread rather than being interested in the signs they had seen Him perform.

When Jesus told them to be concerned with eternal things, they asked the question that we all must ask - what are we to do to please God?

Jesus responded to them as He would respond to us today: we must believe in the one God sent. We are called to believe in Jesus and to be in a relationship with Him.

Lord Jesus, help me to enter a life-changing friendship with You. Amen.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
