Prayer is decisive in determining the next course of our actions. It ultimately involves the Lord to enlighten us along in the day-to-day choices of our interaction with people at home and at work. This trains and assures us God’s Will becomes our compass. Our prayer unfolds the closeness and intimacy of our relationship with the Lord. Such intimacy can bring our humble request to the Lord on behalf of others into miraculous wonders.
Lot and his family were saved from the catastrophic disaster that befell upon Sodom and Gomorrah through the sincere and humble request of Abraham to the Lord. It was a crucial moment for Lot to decide to take refuge in Zoar which was heeded, except for Lot’s wife whose heart was hardened and who chose to look back at the corrupted lives of Sodom and Gomorrah that she turned into a lifeless pillar.
The closeness and trust of the disciples to Jesus their Master were tested when they faced a stormy sail on the lake. However, it was the sheer calmness of Jesus that baffled them in the midst of their utter fright of being doomed by the tempestuous sea. Jesus calmed the torrents as God put natural order as in the beginning of creation. Hence, habitual prayer helps to calm us down that our safety is anchored in the Lord. In troubled times, the Lord will calmly accomplish our sincere urgent act.
Lord, may our discerning hearts be attuned to Your providence and compassion.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
|
INTENTION
FOR FORMATION IN DISCERNMENT.
Let us pray that we might again learn how to discern, to know how to choose paths of life and reject everything that leads us away from Christ and the Gospel.
