St Paul says that we are children of light and children of the day who do not belong to the night or to darkness. It is simply reiterating our basis to impress others that our faith is truthfulness and not falsehood. Therefore, we are called to stay wide awake and be sober in our engagement with the cunning world. We try to pay more attention to the teachings and actions of Jesus as told to us in the Gospels. The people who listened to His teachings were deeply impressed because He spoke with authority. Are we sufficiently impressed with the Gospels and their truthfulness like the people during the time of Jesus?
Even the man who was possessed by the spirit of an unclean devil was "impressed" to the point of shouting at the top of his voice, "Ha! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth?" Jesus had to sharply reprimand him to keep quiet. This exorcism further impressed the people. They were seized with astonishment, not only by His words, but also by His consistent actions. Are we also sufficiently impressed by the actions of Jesus?
Jesus has authority and power to disclose truth and expose evil. I surrender myself to Him with all my heart. I pray that I may continue to walk in the light of Christ and not prefer to move in falsehood. I also want to spread the good news about Jesus to others.
Lord Jesus of power and might, I give myself truthfully to You.
