In today's readings, we are invited to reflect deeply on the themes of wisdom, righteousness, and purity in the context of the Memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes.

The Queen of Sheba's visit to King Solomon reminds us of the importance of seeking wisdom and understanding. Just as the Queen sought out Solomon's wisdom, we too are called to seek the wisdom and guidance of God in our lives. Our Lady, full of humility and obedience to God, is a model of wisdom and understanding for us to follow.

In the Psalm, we are encouraged to trust in the Lord and commit our ways to Him. In the same way, Our Lady trusted completely in the Will of God, even in the midst of uncertainty and suffering. We can draw inspiration from her example and strive to trust in God's plan for us, knowing that He will uphold and protect us.

In the Gospel reading, Jesus emphasises the importance of purity of heart. Our Lady, the Immaculate Conception, serves as the ultimate example of purity and holiness. She shows us how to purify our hearts and minds, and to focus on thoughts and intentions that are pleasing to God. Even St Bernadette Soubirous allowed herself to take Our Lady as her model.

Mary, Bernadette, Solomon and the Queen of Sheba are models for our spiritual journey. May this Memorial bring much healing in this world of ours fractured by culture wars.

Hail Mary, full of grace, pray for us.
