What can we learn from Jesus' experience in the wilderness? What insights to help us on our life journey? Is God first in my life?

Firstly, we see a temptation to rely on material things, instead of God. Sometimes we are tempted to substitute food, clothes, money, the internet or other things in place of God. Yet Jesus focuses on God's Word. His fulfillment comes directly from God. Do I expect things to fulfil my deepest desires? Do I ask God to fulfil me? Do we hear this message in our own lives today? How much attention do we actually pay to this message and instill it in our lives? Let us pray that God will help us to be united and to work further as His disciples in spreading this message of hope and love, always one in unity.

Secondly, a temptation to test God. Will God really care for me when I am in trouble? Sometimes we want proof. Jumping from the Temple would force God to act miraculously. Yet Jesus chooses to trust the Father even when the Father's presence is not obvious. This quiet presence is enough for Jesus; He does not demand proof. Do I trust that God will care for me even when I cannot feel God present or near me?

Thirdly, temptation is to gain something in exchange for worshipping evil or other things. Jesus knows the benefits of evil are temporary and empty. Jesus chooses to be faithful to the Father and worship God alone. In my heart, is there any relationship, habit or thing I place above God? If so, I ask God to truly become the centre of my life.

Lord Jesus, I am weak but You are strong. Be close to me when I am tempted.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
