INTENTION : For prayer with the Word of God. Let us pray that praying with the Word of God be nourishment for our lives and a source of hope in our communities, helping us to build a more fraternal and missionary Church.

FOCUS

We begin this year aware of our spiritual hunger and thirst. In a world as fast-paced as the one we live in, it is sometimes difficult for us to pray. But we all need to persevere with prayer. Sometimes in prayer, we may simply cling to the prayers of others who have experienced a deep mystical life, or allow ourselves to be accompanied by the Church's liturgical celebrations. We may be moved to pray heartfelt devotions. All of these things help us, but nothing can better nourish our personal relationship with Jesus Christ than listening to His voice in the Gospel.

Prayer with the Word of God is irreplaceable, and it enables us to better understand our faith, allows us to build community on a shared revealed testimony, and drives us to encounter reality beyond ourselves, especially towards those who need us the most.

ATTITUDE OF THE HEART

Nourishing our life by praying with the Word of God. Listening to God in order to live better. Let no day go by without receiving a Word from the Lord. And may that Word inspire an action, a gesture, a decision. Because the Word, when prayed, nourishes the soul, ignites hope, and sends us out on mission. (cf Step 1 of The Way of the Heart, Rooted in Love).

OTHER DAILY ATTITUDES TO LIVE THIS PRAYER INTENTION

1. Make daily contact with the Word:
Read a short passage from the Gospel each day and repeat a phrase throughout the day.

2. Set aside one day a week to pray with the Gospel:
Read, meditate, pray, and contemplate a biblical text.

3. Let the Word accompany you while you work or study:
Choose a phrase that inspires you during the week.

4. Share the Word in family or community:
Make space for a phrase or biblical reflection during a meal or gathering.

5. Transform the Word into concrete actions:
Live the Word you prayed through a simple action like comforting, listening and serving.

MONTHLY PRAYER

Lord Jesus, living Word of the Father,
in You we find the light that guides our steps.
We know that the human heart lives restless, hungry for meaning,
and only Your Gospel can give it peace and fullness.
Teach us to listen to You each day in the Scriptures,
to let ourselves be challenged by Your voice,
and to discern our decisions from the closeness to Your Heart.

May Your Word be nourishment in weariness, hope in darkness,
and strength in our communities.
Lord, may Your Word never be absent from our lips or from our hearts -
the Word that makes us sons and daughters, brothers and sisters,
disciples and missionaries of Your Kingdom.

Make us a Church that prays with the Word,
that is built upon it and shares it with joy,
so that in every person the hope of a new world may be born again.

May our faith grow in the encounter with You through Your Word,
moving us from the heart to reach out to others,
to serve the most vulnerable,
to forgive, build bridges, and proclaim life.

Amen.
