Discerning to do God's Will is serious business. Sometimes it takes us a long time to go through the process of discernment, for us to match our own desires with God's Will. We would want to be more thorough in our discernment, especially when making major decisions. However, the example of St Andrew shows otherwise. All it took was a look and a short phrase from the Lord and off they went, following Him throughout Galilee and beyond. These days, some might label the brothers Peter and Andrew as hasty or rash, dropping everything to follow someone without getting to know them first.

It would be rash to do so with any other person, but I'm very sure that the grace to see and hear the Lord as truly Son of God would have been present already and that allowed them the spiritual insight to know and follow. Andrew shows us that it's important to be present to the Lord as He is with us and to know that grace happens in the here and now. This can happen if we let go of all the clutter and distractions in our lives to hear the Lord more clearly. For Andrew and Peter, it was letting go of the nets and boats. What about us? We might have to look into our lives to consider the aspects that are preventing us from following the Lord more clearly.

Jesus, help me to let go of my clutter and distractions.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer you everything I do this day. I offer you my prayers, thoughts, words, joys and sufferings in union with the Eucharistic sacrifice of your Son Jesus Christ. May the Holy Spirit who guided and empowered Jesus be my guide and strength so that I can be a witness to your love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
Let us pray for the proper use of wealth, that, without succumbing to the temptation of selfishness, it may always be put at the service of the common good and in solidarity with those who have less.
