To be seen,is a manifestation. Often, we say that we 'believe'. Well, we believe in our hearts - without manifestations, would this 'belief' be real?
What I don't understand is this - why 'penalise' these statutes by banning them from the new churches - if some architect feel that a saint or a number of saints (like the Chinese martyrs, for example), are reverend in many ways and worthy of reminding the faithful if "how" to lead a sanctified life - then what is wrong, like those Buhddas in temples, if they are inside the churches?
What many seem to have missed out thoday is that those are NOT idols - they are real life examples publicly ENDORSED by the Church. If any one treats them as idols, then it is the problem with the person himself and/or his instructions received.
The problem lies NOT with the saints NOR with the practice of erecting statutes of them inside churches. Hope you'd be able to see this LOGIC - an important one too!

Furthermore, the 'practice' of certain times do reflect directly on the mentality of the laity as a whole - nowadays many faithful do not even know who is who under the scroll of names of the saints.
Well, the sheer number of them is NO deterrence for knowing and laerning about them. There are so many knwoldege on earth, so many languages. The vocabulary of one single language is so huge, why bother to learn about them?
If knowledge about the saints is NOT an important part of religious instructions, well, I am afraid, as I said, we are missing out something very precious in our own faith.

I can't see your LOGIC, Is it saying that when a parish doesn't put a saint statue inside the church, it will logically mean that the congregation is thinking that the statue as idol, so that they don't put it on their floor? What kind of logic is that? I wish you are not prosecutor, otherwise I wish the criminal suspect luck!
We are Catholics, Not protestants, we NEVER think or SEE the saints as idols. This thing is cystal clear. We still can see statues in the churches or around the churches, just not as much as we used to. Even the new built churches, like St. Benedict, has statues, and even candle tray, for people who want to light candle as an offering or prayer.
I still believed that is due to the "sytle", not "belief".

So, praying the Divine Office is a good way to start, or reading the Martyrology, then you will learn more about the saints day by day.
On the one hand, some laity say faith is very important, so laity need to devote more, learn more about their faith, and tell us that the laity of the protestants brothers and sisters are so devoted and so or so, but on the other hand, they say they are busy, they don't have time to learn, to teach, to help. would it any help?
