I
GENERAL PRINCIPLES 一般的法則

1. Sacred music, being a complementary part of the solemn liturgy, participates in the general scope of the liturgy, which is the glory of God and the sanctification and edification of the faithful. It contributes to the decorum and the splendor of the ecclesiastical ceremonies, and since its principal office is to clothe with suitable melody the liturgical text proposed for the understanding of the faithful, its proper aim is to add greater efficacy to the text, in order that through it the faithful may be the more easily moved to devotion and better disposed for the reception of the fruits of grace belonging to the celebration of the most holy mysteries.
聖樂的三大要素: 神聖性、藝術性、普世性

2. Sacred music should consequently possess, in the highest degree, the qualities proper to the liturgy, and in particular sanctity and goodness of form, which will spontaneously produce the final quality of universality.

It must be holy, and must, therefore, 聖樂必須排除一切世俗化的元素exclude all profanity not only in itself, but in the manner in which it is presented by those who execute it.

非洲鼓世俗?!
非洲鼓音樂真的是很神聖(holy)架,我肯定至少非洲的生番在他們進行動物祭獻甚至是以人作祭品時,這音樂對他們來說是真的很「神聖」.我們不是相信彌撤是祭獻嗎?用非洲人祭「天神/山神」的「禮樂」來恭敬天主有何不可?

It must be true art, for otherwise it will be impossible for it to exercise on the minds of those who listen to it that efficacy which the Church aims at obtaining in admitting into her liturgy the art of musical sounds.

非洲鼓這種藝術已有這麽多小朋友在學,不知幾時可以搬到禮儀中使用呢?只可惜甚少人知道它崇高的藝術,連一般自詡「有識之士」也不肯好好去欣賞,唉、文化中心大會堂幾時至肯上演非洲鼓樂呢?

But it must, at the same time, be universal 普世性 in the sense that while every nation is permitted to admit into its ecclesiastical compositions those special forms which may be said to constitute its native music, still these forms must be subordinated in such a manner to the general characteristics of sacred music that nobody of any nation may receive an impression other than good on hearing them.

非洲鼓不普世性?!
君不見尖沙咀重庆大厦如此多黑種人嗎?在普遍奉行隋胎和人工避孕以至出生率每況越下的西方「先進」國家的情況下 白種人將成全球少數人口己是不爭的事實o既然非洲民眾(偕同亞洲)將成全球主要人口, 崇高的非洲鼓樂也應趨向國際化,主流化, 甚至普世化!今日天主教堂流行結他(實則六七十年代「區瑞強」式民歌式聖樂),我相信若干年後非洲鼓將在天主教聖樂中重拾它應有之地位!

非洲鼓,並非因其本質而不適合在禮儀中使用。

每種樂器,其實皆盛載著不少其出生地民族的文化內容。拍打非洲鼓給人的印象,可能首先是「食人族吃傳教士」的場面。

即使是中國人用的鼎,以前不也是煮人的烹飪工具嗎?

拉丁禮所用的管風琴,以往曾是為鬥獸場節目助興的樂器。由它本有的民族意涵,發展至被教會使用於禮儀中、並視為「她自己所本有」的樂器,要用上一千多年的時間。

非洲鼓不是不可以在禮儀中使用,但要多少年後呢?

另外值得一提的是:在中世紀的聖週苦難禮儀中,在讀到救主交付靈魂後的「天地交感」段落中,的確是容許某些「敲擊」場面的,但是否非洲鼓則不得而知了。

對呀, 我在國外參與7 Last Words, Triduum Matins 和苦難瞻禮六時都經歷過:沒有準備鼓,全場教友就是把手上的經書大力扔到地上以模製雷響. 現在回想起來, 所有教友落手(小朋友們落埋腳)參與製造聲浪,場面感人浩蕩.

明子兄果真見多識廣也!

小弟只是在中學時,聽一隻關於聖週禮儀的中世紀聖樂「CD」才得知的。真可謂讀萬卷書不如行萬里路了。

有機會的話,若果搞一個版聚也好吧?
