In the Offertory Prayer of the Tridentine Mass we have:
"P. Suscipe, sancte Pater, omnipotens aeterne Deus, hanc immaculatam hostiam, quam ego indignus famulus tuus offero tibi, Deo meo vivo et vero, pro innumerabilibus peccatis, et offensionibus, et negligentiis meis, et pro omnibus circumstantibus, sed et pro omnibus fidelibus Christianis vivis atque defunctis. ut mihi, et illis proficiat ad salutem in vitam aeternam."
My problem: The word "hostiam" has an equivalent "host" in English. But what is the best word for it in Chinese?
Adjuva me, fratres et Sorores!

在日常信件中兄弟姐妹並稱也是常情。可是值得一提的倒是上世紀的天主教禮儀改革中硬生生地將“姐妹”加入彌撒開頭的懺悔經內﹐又加入獻禮後的“請弟兄們同禱”中﹐破壞了自聖保祿開始一脈相承的優美禮儀傳統﹐殊為可惜。

Dear Augustine,
You should say "adiuvate me" instead of the singular imperative verb.
For me, I would translate the "hostia" as 祭餅.

I have seen from a 1934 Chinese-Latin Missale Romanum (published by the Nazareth Press HK) that this "hostiam" was translated as "犧牲".
If I have not remembered wrong, there is a "sententia communis" that the essence of the sacrificial act (of the Holy Mass) consists of the transsubstantation at the double consecration alone.
Question 1:So the "offering" at "Suscipe" is not the proper oblation in the sacrifice of Calvary? I am not sure.
If Offertory precedes the transsubstantation, what is offered at the offertory could not be the sacrificial victim, i.e., Christ Himself.
Question 2: Then what is actually offered at the offertory? I think it is the unleaven bread, but in which sense is this bread a "hostiam", if we take the literal meaning of the Latin word-the host at a sacrifice?
