Lately, I went to the three Chinese silk road provinces, and in one of the remains of the old silk road cities (Gao Chang) there was amongst the pictures of the Buddhists, Manists and Muslims relics, some Nestorian relics. One picture showed a priest holding a bow of holy water in one hand, and a palm in the other, while in front of him lined up men and women holding palms in their hands.
Clearly this depicts the Palm Sunday liturgy - seems that the celebrant was sprinkling holy water with the tips of the palm leaves towards the lined up congregation, a rite very similar to what we do today during palm Sundays.
