In the First Reading John praises a brother for welcoming some missionaries and giving them hospitality even though they were strangers. Likewise, we too are to contribute to the mission of the Church. The first missionaries, of which St Paul was the chief, left a legacy which is still with the Church. We, as Christians are the beneficiaries of their missionary activity. As part of the Church we are expected to be missionaries in three ways: by contributing to the mission, by witnessing our faith to others, and by prayer for the spread of the Gospel.

Jesus who insists on our responsibility to the world is the one who urges us to call on God day and night. In the Gospel, He tells us to pray continually and never lose heart. We must maintain faith in God in all circumstances for He has promised that He will answer the cry of a poor man.

Therefore let us examine our responsibilities to our brothers and sisters in Christ who are in serious need of our assistance and prayers. We are also reminded that we have a duty before Christ, and the faith we have received is not to be hidden but to be shared with others.

Dear Lord, help us to show Your love by doing small acts of kindness for others. Amen.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
