The passage in Revelation is an unfolding drama of what is to come - the binding of Satan, the Last Judgement, and the New Creation. It is a passage of good news of The Good News. And whilst Luke speaks about the end of the age, about the kingdom of God drawing near, Revelation caps it by revealing to us what will finally happen.

What will finally happen? Satan will be no more. The martyrs will reign with Christ. There will be judgement. Death and Hades will be no more. The first heaven and the first earth will pass away, replaced by a new heaven and a new earth. And for the redeemed people of God will be the Holy City, the new Jerusalem.

How shall we understand all this? We may understand all this perhaps by heeding the words of 2 Baruch 86:4, "Go now . . . and instruct the people so far as you are able, that they may learn so as not to die at the last time, but may learn in order that they may live at the last times." Let us live learning so as to live at the last times.

Teach us, Lord, to be ready at all times to hear Your call.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
