The Word of God today contrasts the blessedness of those who believe in the Lord Jesus, with the wretchedness of those who reject Him and who lead lives of hypocrisy. Those who believe know themselves to be chosen, to be especially favoured by God. We, gathered here, are among them. However, this election is not meant to lead to self-exaltation but rather to humility, to the realization that God's blessing is indeed gift. We are chosen and gifted in Jesus. Through Him, we know God as Father. Through Him, we know ourselves as redeemed and forgiven. Through Him, we know ourselves to be destined for the fullness of life with Christ who is Lord of all creation. Our response to God's choice of us, to His blessings and gifts, is to be one of praise. We are to be filled with wonder and delight, with great love and thanksgiving for the God who has loved us so much. Our response is also to be one of fidelity. We are to live lives authentically holy and blameless, and to be filled with love.

Lord, thank You for having chosen and gifted us in the goodness and love of our God.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
