The first reaction to the empty tomb is that the body of Jesus has been removed or stolen by someone. When Peter and the Beloved Disciple run to the tomb, they find it is indeed empty as Mary Magdalen had said. In the tomb the burial cloths were lying loosely on the ground as if thrown off. The cloth covering the face, however, is neatly folded in a separate place. What is the meaning of this? It seems as if we are being reminded of the cloth with which Moses had to cover his face in the presence of God on Mt Sinai. The risen Jesus, in His resurrection, has set aside all the limitations of His humanity and now comes face to face with His Father. The cloth is no longer necessary. Jesus' rising from the dead is opening up for us the prospect that we, too, will be able one day to be face to face with God in endless happiness. Easter reminds us to live our lives in preparation for that wonderful day.

Let our Easter celebration raise us up and renew our lives by the Spirit of Jesus within us.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That those who hold positions of responsibility in the Church may offer a shining example of a life which is always responsive to the guidance of the Spirit.
