The Parable of the Sower is in two parts. (We will read the second part on Friday.) It is the first in a series of parables about the Kingdom of God which takes up the whole of Chapter 13 in Matthew's gospel. In this first part, we get the general message that God's Word, which is scattered all over the world, gets a mixed reception. But one thing is certain: it will take root and produce much fruit. God's plans will not be frustrated. This was a confidence - boosting message the early Church needed to hear as it struggled in a hostile world. And indeed how surprised those early Christians would be to see the size of the Church today. But there are still many parts of the world today which need to hear that message of hope and confidence. And each one of us is called to work with God in doing the work of sowing. How do I actively share the message of the Gospel with those around me - both Christians and non-Christians?

O Lord, may the seed of Your Word find a welcome in my own heart so that I can share it effectively with others.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That governments and those responsible for the economy and finance of the world, may make an effort to guarantee all peoples the necessary means to live in a dignified way.
