Today we have the final part of Jesus' prayer which brings the discourse of the Last Supper to an end. In this part He prays for all those who have become His followers after His own disciples and who have received the message through those same disciples. We might say a word of thanks today for all those who have, in any way, brought the message of the Gospel into our lives. And the sign that we have received that message is the unity in love which binds all Jesus' followers into one community. 'May they be so completely one that the world will realise that it was you who sent me and that I have loved them as much as you loved me.' In a world that is so full of divisions, the witness of a group of people of different temperaments, age groups, social classes, ethnic differences and so on living together in a closely knit community is very powerful indeed. This is the Kingdom of God on earth. What a shame that so many Christians are divided! This is the real obstacle for people to accept Christ as the Way.

Remove from my heart, Lord, all elements within me that divide me from all my fellow-Christians.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the faithful who hold positions of responsibility in public life, may defend and promote the respect of human values in every situation.
