We do not hear Jesus' words in today's Gospel too often. He has come to bring us peace even though our following of Jesus may result in conflict with those who do not accept Him or His message of truth, love, justice and freedom. His peace is not just an absence of conflict. The peace He gives is something that is deep inside us. It can be present even when we are surrounded by violence and turmoil. After His prayer in the garden, Jesus Himself experienced a deep peace all through the horrors of His Passion. The world with all its enticements may sometimes give fun and pleasure but it cannot give us that peace. This comes from a deep harmony with the call of God that comes to us in Jesus, from an awareness of our deep down unity with our environment and all those around us and with ourselves. It is a gift that brings us great strength in the most difficult moments and which can give strength to others in their trials.

Lord, make me a channel of Your peace.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That children in difficulty and those who devote themselves to their care, may find in Mary, Mother of life, constant support and help.
