Over and over again the prophets had warned Israel that her sins would finally spell her downfall. And yet in this destruction lay salvation, but only if the nation would admit the iniquity of its ways, if only it would turn in repentance to their Lord, their God - the one sure hope of salvation. God has revealed Himself to man to bring him life and divine love that requires death to self.

The most realistic symbol of love is not a cupid but a Cross. In the sacrifice of the Cross, humanity and God are linked together in love. Yes, God loves and cares for us. Sometimes we find ourselves among strangers, unaccepted and alone, like "sheep among wolves". But we need not be afraid. As we go through difficulties, rejection and trials we must remember we are not alone. We do have the love, the help and protection of God our loving Father. We must be prepared to stand by our faith in Jesus who came to show us, in love and action, that God loves us. Even when we sin, God calls us to return to Him. Therefore we should always praise and thank God for His extraordinary love and mercy.

O God who else can I turn to except You. You are my refuge and hope and I thank You for loving me. Amen.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all those who are able to benefit from a holiday period may be helped during their vacation to rediscover in God their inner harmony and to open themselves to the love of human beings.
