Say the daily
Novena to the Sacred Heart

In prayer, more than words, more than thoughts, more than anything, it is to know our true identity - who we are in God. He is my Father and I am His child. It is upon this wonderful knowledge that we shall build all our prayers. If He is the Father and I am His child, then I know beyond doubt and confusion who is the Boss and who is to obey. I am here to do His will. If He is the Father and I am the child, then I know who is the one who cares for me and provides for my daily needs. I must never turn away, either in rebellion or pride, deluding myself that I can make it on my own. If He is the Father and I am the child, then I know who is the teacher/leader and who is to follow. If He forgives me much, am I not expected to do the same after His examples own compassionate heart?

If He is the Father and I am His child, should I then not trust Him to know me well. He who was with me right from the beginning of time. Surely I can count on Him not to test me beyond my strength even if the testings are meant to make me grow. And if there is any real danger surely my Father's hand would stretch out to save me. Did He not come in the person of His Son to deliver me from all evil and to lead me to life everlasting? So Jesus gives us the Our Father prayer to show us how to pray. God is my Father and I am His child. This I must remember and in this I must trust.

God, thank You so much that You are my loving Father and I am Your beloved child.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all Christians may be constantly more aware of their personal and community responsibility to bear witness to God's love for humanity and for every man and woman.
