Christ continues to teach us the fulfilment of the Law. God has always emphasized his own holiness when he tells us about Himself. Christ even tells us to be holy as our heavenly Father is holy. We reverence God because He is holy; we have reverent fear of God for his holiness. The materials and equipment that we use to worship God are blessed and made holy, reserved only for one purpose - to be used only in worshipping God. These are not just ordinary things. They are not used often. They are dedicated for the service of God alone and not to be used for any other purpose.

God tells us that He is holy and we believe it. He orders us to obey the Commandments and the reason for us to obey is because He is holy. We joke about holiness. But when God challenges us about the weakness of our efforts in practicing holiness we are afraid. We fear judgement because we will be examined in the searching truth of God's holiness. If I am really convinced of the need for holiness why am I so slow to practice it? Is my faith so weak that I avoid holiness in myself, even though I may admire it in others?

Lord, I want to be holy. Lead me in the way of Your holiness.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That all Christians may be constantly more aware of their personal and community responsibility to bear witness to God's love for humanity and for every man and woman.
