The Gospel today tells us how Jesus entered the Temple area and realized the prophetic act of cleansing it. He is the new Temple for the new community, He is the centre where the people are united, and He is the new Teacher for the people of God. But this prophetic action of Jesus increases the rejection by those who lead the people while the simple and humble ones develop a stronger adhesion to Him. Reaction against on one side and faith in the other are more and more defined.

The Book of Revelation in the first reading tells us how John the Evangelist takes the small scroll given by the angel and swallows it. It seems that small scroll has sweet and bitter prophecies. Sweet as the Word of God, divine dispositions of events, but which may be bitter for us humans. Yet, those to whom God's dispositions are addressed will arise with Christ, but only at the start. They have - as we have - to live His Cross, and this is bitter, only sweet in hope. Everything is in the just and loving hands of God.

How sweet to my palate are Your promises O Lord, sweeter than honey to my mouth.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Christian men and women, aware of the vocation which is theirs in the Church, may answer generously to God's call to seek holiness in the midst of their lives.
