When we ask for something from God we should expect our prayers to be answered in His own way and in His own time. When Naaman asked the prophet Elisha to cure him of leprosy, he was asked to bathe seven times in the River Jordan. Naaman was cured of the disease in a completely unexpected way. He had expected the prophet to advise him to do something completely different. As we go through life we often ask God for things and hope that He will hear our prayers. Often our prayers are answered in surprising ways and we come to realise that God has been with us all the time and that we have not been overlooked or abandoned. So in life we should expect the unexpected. The Gospel passage emphasises that Jesus was sent to everyone and not just the Jewish people. The Jewish leaders were enraged when they heard this and were intent on hurting Jesus as they believed that they were the chosen people. As the centuries have gone by we have come to realize that we are all God's chosen people and that Jesus does not choose one group over another. Never give up on Jesus as He does hear our prayers and He will answer them in His own way and in His own time.

Lord, give us the courage to trust You more each day.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
