INTENTION : That married people may imitate the example of conjugal holiness shown by so many couples in the ordinary conditions of life.

Christian families are a part of the Church who participate in the mission of salvation. The Lord's Word reveals the Good News of their conjugal and family life, rendered holy by Christ. It is only in faith that they can discover and admire, in joyous gratitude, the dignity to which God has elevated marriage and family life to the Covenant of love between God and his people, and between Jesus Christ and the Church, His Spouse.

The sacramental celebration needs to be prolonged during their entire life lived together as a family. Through the problems, difficulties and events of daily existance God will reveal and propose the "exigencies" of their participation in Christ's love for the Church in relation to their concrete situation. The Eucharist is the source and strength of Christian marriage. It is in this Eucharistic Sacrifice of the new and eternal Covenant that Christian spouses will find their spiritual roots constantly vivifying their conjugal covenant.

In our day as in the past witnesses to the "Gospel of the Family and of life" are not lacking even if at times they remain unknown. The treasure of the family is entrusted to these witnesses who have attained holiness. There are shining, living examples who have testified that marriage and family are holy and sanctifying places from where the Gospel of the family and life irradiate.
