We all know how short lived resolutions can be. It is easy to decide to change our behaviour, develop better attitudes, or be more kind and loving. But when difficulties come our way, often we slip back into our old ways. Most of us know how we should be living and the difference between right and wrong, but it can seem as if we are at war with ourselves. Good intentions are not enough! The problem is that we try to do good and change our behaviour with only our own efforts. Inviting God to send His spirit to fill and empower us is the first step towards wholeness and healing. Perhaps we can take something that we are struggling with and invite God to fill the emptiness and to take control of our lives.

God is alive and very much at work in our time and culture. A sensitive awareness of what is going on around us will prevent us from being depressed or overwhelmed by negativity. We will be able to see from reading the times through God's Word that we are being invited to participate in God's salvation of the human race. We are called to join the quest for a just and peaceful world. And there is no finer way to begin that quest than being reconciled with those with whom we have difficulties. Not only do we heal ourselves but we also contribute to the healing of the world. Our world is alive with the presence of God - let us open our eyes.

Lord, send Your spirit to heal me.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Christians may not be discouraged by the attacks of secularized society, but with complete trust, may bear witness to their faith and hope.
