Gamaliel, a man of insight and wisdom, was able to see what the Apostles were preaching. He looked beyond the physical happenings and he informed the Council that what is of human origin will not last, but that which is of divine origin will triumph and prevail.

The people, in the multiplication of the loaves, saw a spectacular miracle. They were captivated by the physical aspect of it. Jesus, in His compassionate love, answered their particular need and He wanted to lead them to a deeper dimension of reality. This He would do later. He would give His body as Bread of Life to nourish His disciples in the Eucharist - which is of divine origin. This intimate communion with Him will be realized completely in His Kingdom. There, all people will partake as equals in the eternal banquet of love where love triumphs.

With eyes of faith may we be attuned to the prompting of the Spirit, and be able to see the presence of the divine in the situations of our life.

Lord, I am Your servant, give me understanding so that I may know Your teachings. (Ps. 119:125).

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
