More than once in the Gospel we find the Scribes and Pharisees demanding a sign from Jesus to prove His credentials and justify the teaching that He was giving, which they often saw as in conflict with the Law they followed. In today's Gospel one can almost feel the exasperation in Jesus voice. "With a sigh that came straight from the heart" he once again wonders why they always look for a sign and says that none will be given. Why? Because, if they would only open their eyes, they would see the signs of Jesus true origin happening all the time. They must have known - and even witnessed with their own eyes - the large number of people who had been healed of all kinds of diseases. People had been liberated again and again from the possession of demons, a clear indication, as Jesus said elsewhere, of his divine origin. People often do not see what they do not want to see. The same can happen to us. We can be blind to the workings of God in our lives in situations and facts which we find inconvenient.

Lord, open my eyes and help to see and accept what clearly comes from You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the international community may be ever more aware of the urgent duty to bring an end to the trafficking in human beings.
