Novena to the Sacred Heart

Take ..Bless.. Break.. Give....

These words describe the Eucharistic actions of Jesus with bread and wine which were symbolic of his giving of himself for the life of the world. He took of himself in that he did not cling to his divinity but willingly took on our humanity and chose the role of servant, rather than king. His life of prayer and blessing God reminds us of the close union he enjoyed with his Father. His body was broken on the Cross and he was given to the Father as that perfect Lamb of God in atonement for our sins.

Today we ask ourselves if we are willing to allow God to take our lives and do as He might will? Having been blessed by God, are we in turn a blessing towards others around us? Am I willing to be broken and changed that I might become more Christ-like? Am I willing to give not just of my money but of myself to others is service?

Participating in the Eucharist, no matter how devoutly, is meaningless unless it is also translated into living out Eucharistic lives.

Lord, may others see and recognize You as I live out my life.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Christian families may lovingly welcome every child who comes into existence and surround the sick and the aged, who need care and assistance, with affection.
