"Give to the poor". This action has been exploited through History to shut up uneasy consciences. Even Judas, the Treasurer, (Jn. 12:1-8) would not blame a prostitute, who gave Jesus her expensive perfume "to benefit the poor"; never mind if her life remained unchanged. Today, with so many NGOs, we have plenty of occasions to exercise our "charity". But our "generous" donations do not change oppressive structures. What is the 21st century version of "give to the poor"? Change structures, Avert the abuses of globalization, tame the wild beast of Capitalism, beware of slogans like "busyness is business"; it may lead to the conclusion that persons are NOT persons, or, still worse, that God is NOT God!

But what can we common citizens, do about it? First, see the evil where the evil is, and do not try to cure Cancer with Aspirin. Do whatever is in your hand; nobody will require you to do more. At lest, we all can pray, so let us start right now.

Lord, we worship You as Creator, but we do not dare to say this is the world You have created. This is the World we have distorted. Teach us how to fix it, and help us overcome the handicaps of our selfishness. Amen.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
