The power and the glory of God are made visible in our first two Readings of today. In defending himself and the apostles when attacked by the Council and the High Priest Caiaphas, Peter called on the power of the Holy Spirit as his companion preacher, bestowed on them because of their obedience to God, which "comes before obedience to men" (Acts 5:29). In the second Reading from Revelation, John describes the glory of the Risen Lamb as reflected in the adoration of the angels in heaven, and all living things throughout the world. Their promise of the glory of God resounds through the universe and their prostration in worship of this great glory is awe-inspiring.

When the Gospel Reading is approached, another aspect of the all-powerful and glorious God of all is revealed. This is also awe-inspiring, but here it is because of the intimate nature of the revelation of the loving and compassionate nature of the Lord.To the small group of luckless fishermen Jesus appears and helps them obtain an unexpectedly rich harvest of fish. The disciple Jesus loved recognises the love of the Lord in this, and Peter then acknowledges of the presence of the Lord by rushing to Him.

So, to the power and glory of the Lord are added here His love and compassion, which further manifests in the provision of a eucharist commumion on the shore.

Lord, may we follow You, and in doing so proclaim Your power and glory, love and compassion to all around us. Amen.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
