How To Pray With Shalom

"Your Kingdom come," we pray every time we use the Lord's Prayer. In today's reading we see how that Kingdom is to be realised and how it will be judged whether we are truly members or not. We might notice that there is no mention of religious practices or even of the Ten Commandments. It does not mean that these things do not have their place. But what is being said is that if what is said in this Gospel is not part of our life, then God does not know us - nor do we know him. The message is loud and clear: our first priority is to meet the needs of brothers and sisters, especially those of the hungry, the thirsty, the naked, the sick, those in prison¡K The list could be made much longer. To show compassion and practical loving care to them is to love God himself and to transform our world. If we cannot find Jesus in our brothers and sisters and love Him in them, we will not truly find Him in the Eucharist or in the Tabernacle. And there can be no exceptions. "Wherever there is love, there is God¡K Whoever loves, knows God¡K To say we love God and hate a brother or sister is to be a liar¡K." So easy and so difficult!

Anything you did to the least of my brothers and sisters you did to me.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
