In the Book of Daniel we read how the prophet foretells the coming of successive kingdoms, each more powerful than the other. Eventually, even the most powerful will be destroyed when God sets up His kingdom which will never be destroyed, breaking in pieces all these earthly kingdoms. In the Gospel, Jesus prophesies the days of trials and tribulations when even the great Temple in Jerusalem will be destroyed and there shall not be left one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.

Indeed, all that is of humans will one day be destroyed through our own sinfulness and selfishness. In our desire to be more powerful, we may destroy others and eventually ourselves. No one and nothing that is not of God remains forever.

As Christians we are urged not to be conformed to the standards and demands of the world but rather to fix our eyes firmly on Jesus and the coming of His kingdom. We are asked not to be caught up by the waves of pleasure and power but to work towards the building of God's kingdom in which all that is sinful and chaotic will come to an end.

Lord, Your steadfast love is better than life, keep us in Your love.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That those dedicated to medical research and all those engaged in legislative activity may always have a deep respect for human life, from its beginning to its natural conclusion.
