Many feel that they have to shout and draw attention to themselves in order to proclaim the gospel. Paul insisted that our most eloquent testimony is often quiet, unassuming, and gentle. He advised his followers to live a quiet life of love and caring for others, and to avoid those activities of their culture that were displeasing to God. This is the sort of testimony that attracts lasting attention - being different in a very positive way. It does not lead to division or fanaticism, and is something that any person of good will can follow.

We all want to grow spiritually, but fear often holds us back. In the story, the 'wicked' servant was afraid of losing everything, so he did absolutely nothing. He was paralyzed. His master was not pleased - he felt that the servant should have been willing to take some risks for the sake of a greater return. In a similar way, many people are so afraid of making a mistake that they never grow spiritually. They don't really trust God - they think that God is waiting to punish them for every mistake they make. God encourages us to take risks in good faith, to try new things, to stretch ourselves beyond our comfort zones.

Lord, free me from all fear.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
