"All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of our God". These words of Isaiah have essentially been fulfilled, for very few people on this earth have not heard of Christmas. It is quite another matter, of course, to see into the depth of the mystery which we celebrate at Christmas time. While we believe that God has already fulfilled all the Old Testament promises in Jesus of Nazareth, the Word made flesh, we must believe that God still speaks to us in varied ways through the revelation which Jesus brought and which the Church hands down to us, generation after generation. For Jesus is Christ and so is forever contemporary with us and his words are new each day.

In faith, we can affirm with St John "we have seen his glory". St John's Gospel does not record the story of the Transfiguration. It seems that he desired us to realize that we must, with the eyes of faith, see Jesus' glory in every circumstance of daily life. As Mary and Joseph, the Shepherds and the Magi began to see in faith the glory of God made visible in the child Jesus in the manger at Bethlehem.

Come, Lord Jesus, heal our spiritual blindness and strengthen our faith to see Your glory in the mystery of the Church.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That, faced by the growing expansion of the culture of violence and death, the Church may courageously promote the culture of life through all her apostolic and missionary activities.
