INTENTION : That the testimony of love offered by the saints may fortify Christians in their devotion to God and their neighbour, imitating Christ who came to serve and not to be served.

November is a month devoted to the contemplation of the Saints right from the first day. Who are the Saints? They are the ones who exercised charity in an exemplary way against many odds. In their earthly life they discovered the true love of God in a unique way, in their daily tasks. Then they never stopped responding to that Love of God in their own special ways serving humanity in any way.

The history of the Church is replete with testimonies of saints who expressed an immense service of charity towards neighbour. This explains the great emphasis they placed on hospitality, refuge and care of the poor, orphans, infirm and above all for holistic education and health care at every phase of growth. They are the true bearers of light within history, for they are women and men of faith, hope and love. Their devotion to God and neighbour never wavered no matter whatever the circumstances.

One thing becomes clear; those who draw near to God do not withdraw from humanity, but rather become truly close to them. We are urged not to shy away from imitating the saints who followed closely their Master (Christ) who had said that He came to serve and not be served.
