"Give them some food yourselves." Jesus feeds the hungry.

It seems that the most important detail of today's Gospel is the feeding of the hungry people; because in this way Jesus revealed His love and omnipotence. But when I read this passage from the Gospel of Matthew my attention is drawn to the dialogue between Jesus and His Apostles. For me this dialogue is really interesting.

This dialogue is really interesting because when the Apostles had realized the difficult situation - it was late and there was a multitude of hungry people in a deserted place - they didn't ask Jesus for help, but they immediately declared their helplessness. Even more, they were convinced that Jesus was helpless as well. "This is a deserted place and it is already late; dismiss the crowds so that they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves." Is it not strange to be with Jesus and at the same time to claim that it is impossible to do something?

Like the Apostles we also bring many of our problems to Jesus. Today's Gospel is a good opportunity to ask ourselves how much faith is in our prayers? Don't we try to tell Jesus, like the Apostles did, that even He is helpless to resolve our problems and difficulties?

Lord, help me to trust in You always and never doubt Your presence and Your power to help me.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That public opinion may be more aware of the problem of millions of displaced persons and refugees and that concrete solutions may be found for their often tragic situation.
