The Book of Deuteronomy is a document of love, of remembrance and of response. Yesterday the author spoke of God's love for Israel, with Moses recounting the historical events. Today, Moses continues to remind us of God's love. In the first reading, Moses quotes the greatest commandment "¡K you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart ¡K" This beautiful 'opening prayer', the Shema, is a declaration of the Jewish faith which every devout Jew recites daily. The love of God is to be the guiding principle of their whole lives.

The healing of the boy in the Gospel is a lesson to us about the need of faith and trust in the power of Jesus. Jesus trusts His Father. This kind of trust is an exquisite expression of love. We believe God is the Supreme Being and Creator of the world; but faith doesn't mean only believing but trusting in God completely. Trusting means turning our whole life over to God, having complete confidence in Him. We too, can exorcise demons of every sort from our lives and the environment around us if our faith is deep, secure and abiding. God will make possible for us what is humanly impossible.

My Lord and God, teach me to love You with every beat of my heart. Amen.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That public opinion may be more aware of the problem of millions of displaced persons and refugees and that concrete solutions may be found for their often tragic situation.
