The Gospel is from that part of Matthew speaking about the end times. It is a warning to be ready for the coming of the Lord. No one knows how, when or where the end of our life will be. So, we are told to be like servants whose master is away on a long journey. In his apparent absence, one can either carry out one's duties with faithfulness or adopt an "eat, drink and be merry" approach. "I will enjoy myself as long as I can and, when the time comes, I will go to confession and fix everything up." A very foolish strategy. If the Master comes to call you before you expect, it can mean big trouble. You may hear those terrible words from Jesus: "I do not know you." The best way to prepare is to focus always on the present time and live one's life according to the Lord's way at every moment. In fact, He is not absent but present in every person and situation in which we find ourselves. If we live every day in the Lord's presence and serve Him in all the people and situations of our life, we will be close friends and welcome him with joy when he calls.

Lord, the heavens are Yours and the earth is Yours.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That public opinion may be more aware of the problem of millions of displaced persons and refugees and that concrete solutions may be found for their often tragic situation.
