The miracle of the 'Five Loaves and Two Fish' reveals the power of Jesus as the Shepherd to His flock. It is the compassion of Jesus that had led Him to the feeding of five thousand and more.

When we respond to the command 'you give them something to eat' (6:37), we are carrying out the task of bringing the Kingdom/Good News to those in any kind of need especially those in material poverty. How do we know who and when to reach out to those who are underprivileged and marginalized in our society?

It is in the silence of our hearts as we reflect on the Word of God and the realities of our society that we can hear our Divine Master's call 'to give them something to eat yourselves.' This is the call to all Christians today - manifesting the miracle of faith in our own realities and we will experience the miracle of abundance in our lives is true in the context of actions taken out of 'pure love of God' - a genuine sharing of ourselves with all in need.

Such acts of love is a reflection of God's love in our lives as indicated in the first reading 1 Jn. 4:8 "ˇKanyone who does not love does not know God, for GOD IS LOVE."

Lord, teach us how to love like You do.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
