Jesus provoked many questions by His very presence, his attitudes and His actions. Some of those who questioned Him why His disciples did not fast, did so in a hostile manner, accusing him of being less rigorous a teacher than John the Baptist or the Pharisees. We may, however, presume that in any crowd of people not everyone has exactly the same thoughts or emotions and so it is not unthinkable that at least some of the people who came to Jesus were genuinely puzzled and looking for further understanding. Jesus was obviously a great teacher: why then were His practices different? As we reflect on the Scriptures or on our faith, we too may sometimes be genuinely unable to understand and so ask questions. This is only natural for we cannot fully understand God's ways or even all of Jesus' human ways while He walked on earth. Jesus, of course, did not reject His questioners or their question but rather took the opportunity to teach them and lead them to a greater truth. Our questions, too, by the grace of God, may lead us further into the truth.

Jesus, You promised to send the Holy Spirit to lead us into the truth. May the Holy Spirit keep our hearts and minds always open to the truth of God's love for us.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That the family may become more and more a place of training in charity, personal growth and transmission of the faith.
