As far as material possessions were concerned the disciples were sparsely equipped for their mission. That, however, was Christ's plan of campaign. They would depend on the generosity of people for their food and lodging, and they were to be content with what was given them. In this approach they would more easily be accepted by the poor themselves. On the other hand, these disciples were given powers of healing and authority over evil spirits. Thus, more attention would be given to their words and conclusions could be drawn about the nature of the kingdom they were announcing.

As in all genuine proclamations of the Gospel people would not be forced to accept the message. So the disciples were prepared for indifference and even rejection of their words. They could not hope to be treated differently than was the Master Himself. Not everyone is willing to admit his need of repentance and a change of life. To face the truth in ourselves we need the humility of children. Only then will the door be opened to us.

Lord, help us to be worthy of bringing the Good News to others. May we accept faith as Your gift and be ready to share it with others.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
