This prophecy of Nathan is of the utmost importance for the story of David, the future history of Israel and the coming of the Messiah, who will be of 'David's house and line.' The promise of faithful love is surely fulfilled in Jesus and spoken anew to us today.

The rhythmic telling of the parable is punctuated with verbs of growth and movement like "growing up and increasing and yielding" (Mk.4:8). Jesus assures His hearers that despite the apparent set-backs, the Kingdom will bear fruit beyond our meager calculations or our wildest imaginations.

Today more than ever we need reminding that the Kingdom carries with it the seed of victory - the Church may look shaky but the Kingdom stands for ever.

Lord, fill us with the strength of Your love so that we may grow gracefully and know the joy of Your growing presence and love in our lives.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
