The Book of Revelation is written in symbolic language and should not be taken literally or used to label various groups or people. In this passage, it seems that only 144,000 individuals are in heaven with God, and this we know to be untrue. Heaven cannot be over-booked like an airline - there is room enough for all. In fact, it is a number that signifies wholeness and totality. Those who have the name of God written on their foreheads are with Jesus and they are singing a beautiful new song. These are the ones who have chosen the path of love and service, for this indeed renews the heart and soul.

When it comes to love, giving, sharing, and service, how much is enough? A very rich person can give a large donation of money without even feeling the loss. We can sometimes give to others without really wanting to be involved with them. In the gospel story, the widow gave a small sum, but it was more than all the others because of love. Some have money to give, some do not. But we all have the most important thing that we can possibly give, and that is ourselves. When we sacrifice time, energy, or resources, we are giving and loving. When the well-being, happiness, and comfort of others are as important to us as our own, we are giving and loving. And as a bonus, we will be blessed and happy too, even in this life. Everyone is a winner.

Lord, help me to share myself with others.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
