The Lord's Prayer uses "Father" as taught by Jesus revealing the deep relationship between us and God. This expression represents the Aramaic "abba" which implies the intimate relationship between the child and his/her father. By teaching us this prayer and the best expression used, Jesus wants us to be intimate and confident in God as a loving and provident father/mother who hears and accepts our requests in prayer.

It is the intention of God as our creator and the whole universe to be intimately close to us in our relationship with Him/Her. By addressing God as "Father" we are saying that we want to dedicate ourselves wholeheartedly to God's spirit thus building a community of relationship and service.

"Your kingdom come" means that God is the beginning and end of His plan in human history. It is God alone who can accomplish and act in our prayers to Him/Her. By this God calls us to share in the plan of salvation. We, on our part, want to respond freely to this invitation. Our responsibility is to take up the task of sharing the Good News with others. The missionary spirit and zeal of St. Paul is what will motivate us in our missionary endeavour. This would mean that we remain steadfast in our faith, not to succumb to temptations such as the experience of Cephas in the First Reading. As followers of Christ we strive to live a life of authentic witnessing.

"Lord, help us to grow in friendship with God "

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That Catholic Universities may more and more be places where, in the light of the Gospel, it is possible to experience the harmonious unity existing between faith and reason.
