When we are betrayed or someone has been unfaithful to us we find it very difficult to forgive. In fact, many people are unable to do so and carry a heavy burden of hurt, anger, and bitterness to their graves. The Israelites discovered to their astonishment that God is not like us. As often as they were unfaithful to God He was ready and willing to accept them back, forgive their sins, and continue to love and bless them. We should not live in fear and shame but rather seek the embrace of a loving and forgiving God. And in a similar fashion we should love and forgive others who hurt us or let us down, for when we do so we are nearest to God.

If someone asked us to explain our faith in ten seconds, how would we respond? Certainly not with the catechism or a theology book! We could well respond as Jesus did by expressing the command to love God totally and completely and other people as if they were part of us. This is the Law, the Prophets, and the Gospel summarized in one sentence. If we apply this commandment in every situation and in every encounter with another we will have fulfilled God's will and been a source of light and hope to others.

Lord, may there be no limits to my love.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That through its compelling preaching of the Gospel, the Church may give young people new reasons for life and hope.
