Yesterday we celebrated the Solemnity of the Epiphany. "Epiphany" is a Greek word which means manifestation. Jesus in welcoming the Magi, who were Gentiles, manifested the truth that he is the Saviour for all people without exception.

Actually the entire life of Jesus is a manifestation or revelation of God. Jesus is God in the flesh, and he reveals the Father in a way which we can perceive and understand. In today's Gospel he shows us that our God is one who heals. The people carried to Jesus all those afflicted with various diseases and those racked with pain: the possessed, the lunatics, the paralyzed. Jesus cured them all.

Jesus will cure and heal us too. First he will heal the wounds of sin. But he cares about our total person. Some of us here may at this moment stand in need of some physical cure. Eventually all of us must see our bodies wither and be corrupted in death. We should not think that Jesus is unconcerned about these physical realities, as if only our souls counted and not our bodies. A complete cure for our physical weakness will not come in this life. It will come on the day of resurrection. Then we will be raised body as well as soul to the fullness of perfect life. We have a promise of that in our communion with the glorified body of the Risen Lord.

Lord, heal us by Your love.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
