Many people claim to be wise (and holy). But not all claims are equally valid. There is a very simple test to see if someone's wisdom is the real thing. The test is simple: the truly wise and holy person conducts themself with gentleness, mercy, and a lack of favouritism or hypocrisy. But a person whose behaviour is marked by bitter envy and selfish ambition is something else entirely. This type of person is aggressive and self-seeking and usually is a source of discord. They might be doing good things but for all the wrong reasons. We shouldn't pay as much attention to the lofty words and pronouncements of others as to their behaviour, especially towards those who are weaker or at a disadvantage. And we should carefully monitor our own motives and reactions to others so that we will not fall into the same trap.

How many people are in the same position as the father of the mute boy in the gospel story! I believe; help my unbelief! We have faith but at the same time we are torn by doubts and fears. Jesus makes it very clear that faith is the essential ingredient for a healing miracle. He did not come to perform magic but to reach out to those of faith. All things are possible for those who believe and do so with an undivided heart and mind. Let us try to meet the challenges that each day brings with a faith-filled and undivided heart. Who knows - maybe we will be blessed with a few miracles.

Lord, increase my faith.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
