To grow in humility, one has to look at the life of Jesus: "Learn of me, for I am meek and humble of heart". Jesus is "humility" personified. Although he is God, he emptied himself by becoming man to save humankind. He chose to become poor for our sake. He chose to be born in a manger rather than in a castle. He chose the company of the poor, the sinners and the outcast instead of nobles and princes. He chose to live in a simple town like Nazareth, with simple people like his disciples. He did things according to God's will and in God's time. He knew that his thirty years of silence would best provide him with three years of words in action. Above all, he chose not a king's throne but the throne of the cross on Calvary. Because of all this, He was exalted and glorified by the Father.

Today, Jesus invites us to learn from him, who loves and serves with humility. He reminds us that "whoever exalts himself will be humbled; but whoever humbles himself will be exalted." May we be faithful followers of Christ, especially in his way of loving through humble service.

Lord, may we glorify You in everything, by loving and serving You with humility.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
