John the Baptist talked about how he felt so joyful because he heard of Jesus' success and he knew that his task was near completion. He was to prepare the way of the Messiah. So when he said, "He must grow greater and I must grow smaller." His humility is what Leaders of today need. Our world needs leaders who are humble and ready to be at the service of people specially the poor and needy in our society.

We know that self-knowledge and humility are the two important requirements in our search for God's will. So as disciples of Christ, we seek His will with faith.

In the first reading v.14 'if we ask anything according to his will….' reflects how important it is to know God's will. John the Baptist was certain of his role as forerunner of Christ when he heard of Christ's work.

Today amidst so many challenges of life, the call for the 'discernment of the spirits' is ever more necessary and urgent.

To remain faithful to the daily search for God's will requires us to be close to the Lord particularly in prayer in order to know what He wants us to do in life. Let us take up this challenge to desire to do what God wants of us as His 'friends'.

“Lord, grant us the grace to know Your will everyday of our lives.”

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That in this Year of Faith Christians may deepen their knowledge of the mystery of Christ and witness joyfully to the gift of faith in him.
